Car sales commison

How does new car sales commission work? Does the salesman get a set commission?

Does he still get the commission if the customer knocks the company for the first payment?

Yes I am asking for a reason. Far too complicated to go into.

TIA

Beanpole gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:

Almost certainly not. It'll be based on a number of factors, including margin, sales promotions and targets, and any "upsell" (options, finance, etc).

What do you mean by "knocks the company"?

The car is subject to an HP agreement and the customer has told them to shove it.

Not something he can do unfortunately. Sales staff are paid for sales, anything after that is nothing to do with them - unless they have acted in a fraudulent manner or keep getting friends to buy cars and try to get out of agreements!

He will also have had a commission from the Finance Company - I guess this will be clawed back if the buyer 'shoves it'.

When I was in sales the commission from the Finance Company was on a sliding scale based on the % rate.
