Cars with a 12v water pump...?

Are there any cars out there, scrapyard abundant, that have a good-flowrate 12v water pump that I could use as my chargecooler coolant pump? I refuse to pay the £200+vat for the OEM article and even £55 off ebay seems a little stiff for little more than a large motor in a plastic housing, my local scrappy will flog that sort of item for less than a tenner. I've heard a '90ish 5 series BMW has a secondary water pump somewhere as part of the heater circuit - how big is it, or should i say what sort of flow-rate is it?

I know that R5 turbos, and I think the 21 have them, the Volvo 400 series turbos definately do also, can't think of anything very recent at the moment- brain is cooked.

OOh though the R5 turbo is a little rare for scrapyard hunting, i guess, the other two are definitely easier to track down! Were they engine coolant pumps or for some other purpose, do you remember?

Yes.

Cross referencing google and eurocarparts it seems the Ren. 21 pump is only =A317 inc vat and is indeed electric. Genius, thanks for the tipoff!

Some E39 5 Series do - to keep the heater working for some time with the engine off, like you might want to do while leaving kids in the car but not the keys. I'd say the flow rate is pretty low. Something like a central heating one.

Hmm best to avoid a low-flow one then, wont be ideal for circulating 10s of litres a minute, although I suspect there wont be any need for such high flowrates most of the time with the CC setup.

Thanks for the tip!
