Changing engine mount on BMW 325 E30

The rubber engine mounting has broken on my BMW 325 E30. All the local motor factors seem unable to get hold of the part, and BMW want 33.71 for this little bit of rubber (and a stopper). Does anyone have any suggestions about other ways to get hold of one of these?

Also how should I go about trying to fit it? I as thinking a combination of brute force, jacks and levers would probably get the engine close enough so that I could bolt it in.

There is a small picture of the broken one at

The BMW part numbers are B11.81.1.132.321 and B11.81.1.133.377.

Looks like the engine has moved a fair way. Is the other one ok?

seems to me that £33 is reasonable. Just payed £50 for a pattern engine mount for a merc E320!!

As to fitting, a trolley jack ender the sump is possible with care and some big lumps of wood to protect the sump but this is not recomended as you could end up breaking the other mount if the jack slips and possibly lose a couple of fingers if you are trying to get the old mount of the block at the time!!. Try to borrow an engine crane or one of those beems that fit on the inner wings and hold the engine up. You will need to lift the engine slightly first before you can even remove the old mount.

It's a doddle of a job. Buy a new one from

and you can use a trolley jack under the engine mount arm NOT the sump....it's too thin to support the weight of a 6 cylinder engine!.

GSF ones for Golfs have a reputation for being utterly s**te. I'd go for the BMW one myself.
