My air con is not working .according to this little sticker on the top of the Air Con unit It was serviced last year , the light on the dash illuminates and there appears to be no leaks or whatever from anything . It just does not get cold at all . Can i do anything to test it , and could i repair it , or is it a garage job . Thanks

Today , outside temp was hitting 85 plus ! , i closed all windows and hit the button , flicked the slider to 18C and set the blower to almost max . It just blows out cold as per normal . If i hit the air-con switch should i hear something *kicking in * in the engine bay like a compressor ? , just browsing I'm thinking it could need charging ? whatever that is
When was the last time you used it that it worked? If you don't spin it up occasionally then the seals dry out & it leaks. However if the systems low on pressure then the compressor won't kick in, try any of the local aircon specialists.
Does the compressor run? open the bonnet and start the engine with the air con off and look for a belt driven pulley were the center of the pulley is not turning. it should be at the front of the engine low down below the hydraulic pump, that's the compressor and it has 2 large silver pipes connected to it. Once you have found the compressor leave the engine running and switch on the air con and check that the center of the pulley is now spinning. If it is then the ac is working and if it isn't then you probably need to have the gas topped up at least. Low gas is the most common fault with air con.
What I meant was the last time you used it and it worked...
