Clifford Concept Alarm problem

Hi, apologies for the x-post but hoping someone might know a bit about Clifford Alarm systems? I've just bought a car with the Concept 500 system fitted and it's been fine for the past two weeks. It started playing up yesterday and won't respond to the remote anymore. I've changed the battery in the remote and tried the 2nd backup remote as well but neither will disarm/unlock it. I managed to get in by standing by the car for 10 minutes pressing the unlock/disarm a few hundred times. Any ideas on simple things I can check? The system seems to be generally working ok (ie. warning chirps and full alarm on cabin entry) and the remotes seem fine. Is it likely to be a problem with the receiver unit in the car? Also, does anyone know much about Clifford's "lifetime" guarantee? The system was professionally installed in one car and then moved (by the same qualified people) into mine so it's not the original car. Expect I'll end up having to pay to get it sorted...

Cheers, Dan

Assuming you're the original buyer, this shouldn't be a problem. If you're not, then you will be charged, as the warranty's non-transferrable.

The fault sounds like either an RF board failure within the main unit, or else a problem with external interference blocking signal. Not anywhere near Thetford are you?

Sadly I'm not the original buyer so I guess I'll be charged. It doesn't seem to be a complete part failure as occassionally it will work. Actually it's working fine tonight but I don't want to take any risks so am keeping it in valet mode. I originally thought it might be interference (I work at UK air traffic control!) but it's been fine for the last two weeks and it happens in different places. Thanks for your input, guess I'll get it looked over by a Clifford installer.

Take it back to the dealer you got it from and ask them to put it right

Was a private sale and the seller informed that he'd had problems in the recent past so I can't really hold it against him. I'm going to try contacting the original installers and hope they might just charge for parts (worth a go).

I had a similar problem with a Concept 50, the processor and remote became unsynchronised due to a knackered car battery.

Had to have the system rebooted and resynchronised, cost about an hours labour or £45 in my case from an authorised dealer.

Nick.
