Clutch squealing under load

It's especially noticeable when I'm driving the car hard just after starting out, such as accelerating on a motorway slip road.

Bascially when I reengage the clutch it sometimes makes a squealing noise. But only when I'm accelerating at the time, most of the time it's silent.

A sign of problems to come?

Car is 2004 Ford Fiesta.

It's just over 2 years old, definitely a sign of problems to come ;)

Especially so since it's only got 19k on the clock :(

I sometimes get a squeal just as I engage the clutch, but in my case its not the clutch but the power steering belt making the noise. It coincides with moving of and usually happens in damp weather. I cured it by rubbing some chalk on the belt. It comes back, but stops it making the noise for 3 months.

Dont worry about it, my 2005 Fiesta does the same 15k miles. seems to be worse in damp weather.

Just because both our cars are doing it doesn't mean they aren't both broken :-\

I thought the clutch on my 307 was going because of the same sound. I eventually realised that it was the rear brakes sticking on a little as it was worse when I held the car on the handbrake and then drove off as opposed to starting off from the footbrake on the flat (didn't make any difference if I was doing a hill start or starting on the flat). Once the weather warms up a bit I will strip the rear brakes and clean/lubricate the caliper, I know it's not the pads as they were new last year and still have plenty of meat on them. I think I just need to drive a bit more frequently and further!
