Does gas admixture count as "bi-fuel"?

I understand that if you change your fuel type (say, fit a Diesel engine) or convert your car to bi-fuel (like petrol/LPG) one can apply to the DVLA for a reduction in tax.

Does this also apply to hydrogen generation systems that trickle in a small amount of hydrogen, but never in quantities great enough to run on hydrogen alone?

Bi-fuel vehicles are defined as those running on either of two fuels (not the mixture you describe), and with a separate tank for each fuel.

In another place, (farcebook) a seller and fitter of said hydrogen generators is claiming that you can get a tax reduction (with appropriate paperwork from fitting and testing garage). I'm very sceptical myself but would like to know for sure.

It has been shown that browns gas generators cannot cause any improvement in fuel consumed (related to amount of emissions), so it is hard to see how a lower tax category could be claimed that way, and it certainly could not count as bi fuel as it cannot run on it alone.

Before you put too much effort into working out an "alternative fuel" scheme, you might like to remember it's only a tenner difference in VED, whether it be band B or band M...

Got any references links for that?

Oh I wouldn't bother. I'm just wondering if anyone flogging these gas generators can actually claim that one can get duty reduced.

It's a massive £10 rebate as I recall.
