Fixing compression tester?

I've got an old Gunson compression tester that I bought from Halfords many moons ago. Came to use it t'other day but noticed the hose had split where it connects (crimped) at the bottom end. I cut the damaged part off and reconnected it using a jubilee clip. I used a small jubilee but it sticks out too much and won't fit down the head to screw into the cylinder. Is there anything better I can fasten the hose with that doesn't stick out as much?

Ford dealers sell small metal clips they use on rubber fuel pipes on older cars, might do the trick, or glue the pipe on with some superglue.

It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Mark" saying something like:

Nip down to the nearest Hydraulic Hose Specialist in the Yellow Pages. They'll crimp your end on for tuppence.

You need an 'Oetiker' clamp. Go to any pneumatic supplier, of decent tool merchant, and they will have one, they are only pence.

Thanks for the replies, I'll have a look in yellow pages for a local depot.

Mine is held on by a couple of cable ties. I didn't think it would last long, but it has worked far better than expected.

Hmmm, just been reading about safety concerns using a compressor but this does seem to be little bit dangerous!

Well it's normally only 1/2litre of volume & 14bar so not very dangerous. Bleeding irritating though.
