During a valet yesterday the plastic housing of the high-level brake light
came unstuck from the rear window.

The car is a Rover 420 SLi (1997). On the rear window (top) is a small area
of black 'film' bonded to the glass surface. Both ends of the brake light's
plastic housing are then glued to this film. At one end the adhesive has
broken away from the film completely.

What is the best way of re-attaching it back into place? Is there a suitable
adhesive that will bond plastic to this 'film' on the window.

Cheers,
Shaun.

The best thing would be to take the car to the dealers, get them to fix it,
and present the valet firm with the bill.

Well you could try. Save the hassle and stick it back with a dollop of
silicone sealant.

Loctite make a version of superglue that's safe to use on glass. Think
it's called 'Glassbond' or something equally obvious. I've used to to
stick rear view mirrors, tax disc holders etc to windscreens with
great success.
