Flat battery/2 cheap tyres needed in East London

Hi,

I'm trying to resurrect a Peugeot 405 for a (damsel in distress) friend who's desperately short of dosh but badly needs the car for personal reasons. I haven't worked under the bonnet since my teens, so am a bit rusty!

Had to get the car towed to my garage yesterday as the battery was completely flat & wouldn't take a charge.

The small charge that it took last night that lit the dashboard lights has completely gone overnight; now TOTALLY dead.

The battery fluid level is very low, only just over the lead, and the car has been at the kerbside unused for about 10 months.

Having said that, the battery is a v. good one, bought about 18 months ago.

My question is (finally!); is there a chance topping the thing up & trickle charging it will fix it, or would it be better to just junk it & buy new? I'd have to buy a new charger as my old one is on the blink - as I've just discovered...

Any help gladly received, thanks in advance,

Graeme

Chances are that after 10 months without a charge, that it's dead. Certainly not worth buying a charger just to find out, unless you want one for yourself anyway. Mike.
