Ford Escort rear foglight switch (update)

Well I've buggered about with the foglight switch and after stripping it to the mechanism, I can now see that it's of a crappy design which is totally useless. I've ordered a new one from Ford at =A327 (a bargain, eh!?) Here's hoping it will now pass its MOT on Saturday.

Heh, that'll be a Mk6 Escort then. With the oval foglight switch.

Yup, they're s**te alright.

Correct. I could hardly believe it when I tried 6 or 7 switches from the scrappy and they ALL failed. Fkn unbelievable.

Why are people still surprised?

If a small, mass-market car that is at least 12 years old only needs a fog light switch for an MOT, I'd say that's a tribute to their design...

and he could have just wired in a cheapo switch and bulb from maplins for about a quid. (which I had to do the other week on a grey import Subaru Impreza.)

Because Ive never owned an escort with the oval fog light switch and never heard of this problem before.

Hang on...I haven't put it in for its MOT yet....that's on Saturday. No doubt there will be other faults.

I already had it lying about, but any switch that will fit is fine, could even be a domestic light switch, but you must also have a visual warning light to show when the fog light is on.

I must be imagining the Saab & Peugeot which are our two main cars.
