Ford TIS CD ROM

Hi all.

In the thread "Bad Earth", someone has looked up information on the Ford TIS CD ROM.

These seem to crop up regularly on e-bay - there's 46 of them there now!

They're almost certainly copies of original CDs - they're all going for a couple of quid. Is this a legal problem? Are the CDs available from Ford directly? Do they get ticked off by having so many copies of their information flying around?

Is it worth getting one?

Thanks,

Pete.

I got one from E-Bay, and it was a copy.

Sorry don`t know about the legal issue`s but looking at it, you need a user name and password to access ford directly from the software. Looks like it dials them up or something, althought it does have some usefull tech doc`s, recall notices, and wiring diagrams on.

Was worth my 3 quid!

If it's the same as the BMW TIS and ETK, then I'd guess it's technically illegal. But haven't heard of BMW prosecuting anyone and they're on sale everywhere. ;-)

I had slight guilt feelings about buying pirated software, but then BMW choose not to sell a workshop manual anyway.

I'd make it a legal requirement for factory workshop manuals to be available to the public. Could be a nice little earner, too.

I don't think they are the info is in the public domain as all it does is tell you of the recall information and includes the relevant documents on how to fix it and what causes the problem I bought one simply because I wanted it and for the £4 it cost me I can't see anything wrong
