Telling us what it actually does might help. If it's running out of steam towing things up hills - that's what diesels do, particularly underpowered ones like the Frontera.

Which engine? If this is the 2.5 or 2.8 isuzu units then i suspect you have either a boost control problem -there are LOTS of small vacuum hoses which control boost, egr, throttle plate etc etc etc-and several valves and one way valves.

If its a late common railer then you have a problem with either the boost control unit, or the charge temp sensor, or even a restricted intercooler.

Get it to someone who knows what they;re doing.

Works fine towing and without towing then just fades while towing.

My espace turbo diesel does not fade uphils. His frontera only started doing this this june. He has been towing fine for 4years before.

Ahh. Brain is working abit better today... When was fuel filter last changed? If partially blocked then under some cercumstances (eg long period of full power) demand outstrips supply.

Change the filter and be certain all the sealing rings are in place / in good order, and try it again.

Could you tell us which engine you have- 2.5 / 2.8 mechanically injected or VP22 pump?

Do you mean the power drops away? If so, does it come back if he backs off the throttle a bit? If so it may well be the fuel filter. If it can't pass sufficient fuel for the high demand when towing that would fit the symptoms.

Failing that check the breather hole in the tank cap and anything else that might restrict the fuel supply - like the lift-pump failing.
