Frontera Steering Wandering (a solution)

Hi all,

My fathers Frontera always suffered from wandering steering which would be exagerated by sudden camber changes. After taking it to a 4X4 specialist in Gloucestershire, he was told that it was probably the steering box (£300 + labour) - so he left it with them for the day.

When going to collect it, he was told that the bill would be £54. Somewhat shocked, he asked what the problem was and it turned out to be that the universal joint from the steering column to the box was seized. The specialist freed this up and it is now perfect and no longer wanders. They said that this would need regular attention to stop it happening again, but that it was probably not worth the expense of replacing it.

All fairness to this specialist (sorry, don't know the name but can find out if anyone is interested) who did an excellent job at a good price.

Hope this helps someone....
