Fuel Injector prob on Ford 2.9 V6

I have the above problem in my Ford Scorpio 1992.

My Local Engine Specialist did a diag and said its 95% sure its an Injector blocked or not working.

They say It'll take replacing the Injector.

This is gonna cost close to £100 if Using a 2nd Hand Injector.

Is there a cheaper way out of this ? Do Fuel/Fuel Injector Cleaners Work ?

Thanx in advanx.....

Symptoms are some mornings idle and running is really chuggy,

Noticable miss when idle/running.

Accelaration is laboured, not smooth, and when travelling at speed and auto box switches to higher gear to lower revs, then engine causes slight vibration and is very, very lumpy unless accelarator is pressed e.g speed is increased. I thought this sounded like cam flat spot issues but eng people say cam isn't involved.

A very well respected local mechanic who had drilled out and replaced broken exhaust mani bolts in the head, had done a little diag (free) Last year (His crypton machine was nicked so he could'nt do this job) and he said at a guess injector was blocked and it isn't leads, plugs, rotor arm or distrib cap.

He also said compressions was top notch and engine is good.

I can only suggest you get your car's codes read before you waste any money replacing injectors.

save a hell of a lot of buggering-around; modern carsare not really amenable to hit-and-miss diagnostics.

buy another car swap injectors over :) or failing that, I've got 6 sitting around :)

if the injectors are working then it's worth getting them cleaned ultrasonically they won't fail all of a sudden unless there may be an electrical problem? unplug one injector at a time to find the faulty one or, if the guy knew what he was doing, then he would have pulled a plug lead off till he spotted the one that was causing the problem

I doubt that one injector will cause it to run with these problems I've driven mine with 2 leads off and it wasn't until I returned that I noticed it was missing a little and I thought I had not gapped the plugs properly :)

explain the symptoms in more detail and I'll see if I can solve it but it sounds like it's just a sticking air flap in the air flow meter
