Has it only recently started doing this, or has it never pulled? It's unlikely that the injection timing will have altered by itself, so I would suspect something else.

If they're old. The pumps had a tendencey to fail at about 80K on those, any decent diesel specialist can check the injection timing for you but if it's moved then something else is wrong.

Provided all the other stuff has been checked/tried (air/fuel filters, lift pump is working and no air is being drawn in - air would normally be accompanied by non-start issues, and cam belt timing is ok), then the injectopn pump will be the problem.

The pump cam plate wearing was a common problem on the old transit.

Brother had the RAC out yesterday to his 2000 Ford 2.5D tranny. Driving down dual carriageway then a sudden loss of power and wouldn't go over 40. Turned out a plastic bush that connects a linkage from the pump to air intake system had snapped. Managed to bodge it for time being.
