Help wanted Transit diesel will not start

My son in-law has a 'S' Reg Transit diesel. He has just rang to say that the key is acting like his spare one which is not chipped, resulting in the engine not starting. When he turns the ignition key the oil and battery lights come on as normal and the Immobiliser light starts to flash, but the engine does not turn over.

I am told there is a sequence/method of bypassing the chip in the key to start it, can anyone please help.

Indeed it seems like the immobilizer either isnt receiving the correct chip sequence to allow the van to start, or the sequence is wrong. You cannot bypass this system easily, else why have it?!

1) Interference from other keys on ring, or chip has gone faulty- try the spare key on its own. 2) Pickup coil is disconnected or broken- unlikely unless someone has been tampering, or you;ve been driving across a rough field. This is mounted around the ignition barrel and is easily replaced (£15) if in doubt.

There isnt anything else that can go wrong really. its a simple and secure system.
