Laguna Immo Help please

We had to replace the battery on the car due to the xmas layup and we foolishly replaced the keyfob batteries. The keyfob will no longer talk to the car.

1995 Renault Laguna

Keyfob is an IR one and appears to be working because a signal can be seen on a digicam.

The car will turnover but not start. The CL light seems to be behaving normally. From info from the web, it appears capable of accepting programming but I do not know what to put in or how to do it. The CL switch is a rocker type switch and there is no button on the wiper stalk.

Body type is B56L

The keyfob has no code label in it but the PCB has this printed on it and I understand it is the key number but it does not work in any software I have found:

P 9B0AC9 with 120.6/M under that.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks.

For the code try: 5258 I think the Laguna uses the pedal & wiper stalk

  1. Switch the ignition on, the led immobiliser light will flash (as it does)
  2. Depress the accelerator pedal and keep it held down. the led light will go out
  3. Press the button on the end of the window wiper control arm the number of times the first figure of the code

(For e.g, if the first number of the code is 3, keep the throttle pressed down and press the stalk 3 times)

*check that the led light comes on each time you press*

  1. Release the pedal and the tell tale light will flash again

  2. Repeat the same operation for the next 3 digits of the code

At the end of the code the led light should be continuously on

: if it is flashing the code is incorrect, switch off the ignition and try again : if you enter it incorrect 3 times you have to wait 15 mins to enter it again

If it's the CL method as on the megane the procedure is:

turn on the ignition the red led will flash fast hold in the cent lock button on the dash and the led will flash slower; after 5 flashes release the button then press again till 2 flashes release press again till 5 flashes release then press again till 8 flashes release; the led should now be lit solid and you can now start the car. Turn off the ignition and hold in the cent lock button on the dash again till the doors lock/unlock point the key at the dome next to the mirror press the button on the key twice the doors should lock/unlock and job done.

there are several different systems

some of them you hold the cl button for 5 seconds, then press the unlock button on the fob. Some must have diagnostic equipment. entering the code number which is different for each vehicle and will be in the original paperwork is an emergency temporary get you home procedure

Very many thanks for the code number. I will try it when it gets dark and I can see the lights, but as I said in my op, the wiper arm has no button and is a normal fixed one with just the knors to turn and the flick function. The CL switch is also a rocker type. That may actually be the answer, it has two button functions, so it may accept the code as well as set it! :))

I will find out later.

It does look more likely that a local automotive locksmith is going to lighten our bank balence in the near future. :((

Thanks for replying, :))

This story came to a very happy conclusion this evening.

Despite the kind help in here we could get nothing working. last week a man came with a proper workshop laptop and spen about three hours trying to get the car to talk with his laptop. No dice, so we were faced with scrapping the car.

We did manage to get the local renault place to have a quiet look at it and it was towed away by moonlight a couple of days ago, with a view to find out what was the matter.

They had little luck with it and it spent half a day plugged into a computer in France to work out what was going on. Eventually it talked and then they discovered that there had been three major recalls on that model and none ever carried out.

Tomorrow morning we pick up a nice car with it's electrics/management system rebuilt and even washed and cleaned. It will cost us £80 for a new key blipper unit. :)))

Sadly that was clouded by my combi boiler breaking early this morning. So we are happy but cold and hoping it will not be a cold weekend.

You win-you lose!

Well this is rec.*.maintenance, you can always repair the combi:-) (I presume it's got water pressure)

Yep. And all the fault charts point to the circuit board. Why couldn't it have been the gas valve! :((

Resolder it then.
