Hi, my Landy's ignition light has started to stay on after switching
off the ignition.
It started with a faint glow of the light whilst driving, that then
dissapeared after a while and then the light stayed on when i switched
it off.
I disconnected the battery to save it, when i reconnected it a week
later it was flat, could this be a faulty alternator or an earth, I
ahve no knowledge of car electrics so any ideas would be helpful
before taking it to a garage and costing me an arm and leg.

sounds like a dodgy alternator, but the battery should stay ok if
disconnected, so the battery may have caused early alternator failure

which is when the diode flows both ways, which is what i said. ok english
isnt my strong point but had this fault a few times
