Thanks tim got the back box done a few days ago and asked the staff at quick fit if the rest of the exhaust was ok they said it was but what do they know, will have to get a new one seems to be affecting the acceleration now like its holding the car back

many thanks

It will be. The pistons will be fighting against the excessive back pressure in the exhaust, sapping power pretty hard. Get it sorted sooner than later to avoid doing a bearing in the engine.

Just as an aside, it may be just the wadding further down that has come out and is blocking the tailpipe, check this FIRST before letting them fit a new cat.

Personnally I wouldnt be letting the car anywhere near Kwik Fit though....

Those folk are generally not mechanics and wont have a clue how to diagnose a problem, unless something is basically visually destroyed.

Go to a proper garage!

does anyone think it could be the sensor the pulse air injection pipes go into hear they are a bugger for going wrong

No, your problem is excessive exhaust back pressure (for whatever reason) which is blowing the pipes off.
