Major Water leak on V6 Omega

Hi....

I have a major water leak on my 1996 V6 3.0 Omega.

I thought it was coming from the back when it first happened, but now apears to be coming from the front of the engine. Maybe it just seemed to be coming from the back because I had been doing some speed when it went, and it had been blown back and collected there.

Now having sat over night, the water apears to be coming form somewhere between the canm belts...

Is this a water pump issue?

What's the chances of it just needing re sealing? Or needing replacing.

How easy a job is this, with the exception of the re timing issue...

Any adive is appreciated... (Including don't buy another V6 omega!)

Thanks Paul.

I've had the oil cooler changed last year... and the water that came out is clear... Not contaminated.

It just pours out, without the eingine running. But is clear, not hte creamy crap that is the oil issue... Have been there!

SWMBO's 1.4 R-reg Renault Clio has a coolant leak coming out near the front driver's side wheel. It's a 1.4 "E-type" engine (at least, that's what the Haynes bumper book of jokes calls it). The only thing I can see that has coolant at that side of the engine is the water pump - all the coolant plumbing seems to be on the other end (passenger side).

I can see coolant dribbling down the sump, but can't see further up behind the timing belt to see where it's actually coming from.

It's booked into the garage on Wednesday for fixing, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any likely causes on this particular model to give us some idea of what to expect - I have neither the time nor the inclincation to pull the timing belt off to get to the water pump to find out for certain....

Turned out to be a water pipe...

I had to removed the air intake from the top of the intake manifold, not a nice job on one of these...

It runs now, but idle's a little quick and is using 0.5 Gallons per hour to tick over instead of 0.3gal/hour.

Any ideas what I might of missed?

Thanks

I would recheck all hoses you removed, especially those after the throttle for air leaks, and if you can't find any, look at the manifold gasket which you disturbed as thats probably leaking!

Cheers...

I'll re-check the air intake first, make sure it's not leaking.

Thanks. Paul,
