Mercedes Vito

Anyone know how to jump start the Vito diesel van? (Right hand drive) The battery is under the drivers seat, there doesn't appear to be jump start posts under the hood as per BMW, the drivers seat is hard to remove, the manual shows only the lefthand drive version where the battery is under the passenger bench which does remove. HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not familiar with the Vito, but AFAIR mercy vans always had the batt under the seat. Pull the seat all the way forwards and it comes off the runners. easy.

The difficult bit was getting it back on in the dark. :-))

Thanks for the swift answer Steve. Something that simple would be the answer, and something I never tried. This is my first experience with a Merc van, second hand with a flat battery. Never had a problem with the cars tho LOL. I hope the Vito has runners, can't remember when looking at it today.Won't know till Monday back at the work place. Weekends are non work. Definately.

Mate of mine's got a Vito (RHD) - he gave me a jump start off it once before and I remember the jump start point being somewhere on the passenger side of the van, just behind the passenger door. Don't know if it would accept a jump start from these points as well (there may be some complicated electronics preventing it, diodes + such that only allow power to flow one way??) but would have thought this would be fine.

Push/tow start it?

Attach the +ve jump lead to the appropriate point on the starter?

There must be some sort of reasonably easy way to access the battery, when you say 'hard to remove' are we talking 'cut out with an angle grinder' type hard to remove, or 'I cant be arsed undoing 4 bolts' type hard to remove.
