For the information of anyone in the future needing to know how to do this. To separate the engine from the transmission on the Nissan Micra 1.2 automatic it is necessary to remove the bolts that hold the drive plate onto the torque converter. To access the bolts, there is an oval shaped plate about 2 1/2 inches (7cms) by l 1/2inches (4cms) on the thin metal plate that forms the interface between the engine and the transmission just below the starter motor. This is accessed from underneath the engine. This oval plate is easily removed with a knife blade and reveals a circular cut-out which gives access to the bolts fixing the drive plate to the torque convertor. I hope this is useful for anyone who needs this information in future. The Haynes manual gives NO instructions how to locate or remove this plate.
