Micra Stalling - cause ...

Now identified (I am told) as a faulty idle air control valve which, I am told, is part of the throttle body housing - some of you will recognise my groaning noises immediatley, and that's before the labour charges (and VAT!)

But if it's a valve, it's mechanical, right?

And it can get mucky/sticky, right?

My usual cure for this stuff is a quick shot of WD40and/or a bit of a clean to free things up -

But Where is the damn thing? - anyone got a picture so I don't go looking at the wrong bit, or take my daugher's car apart and not be able to put it together again?

Cheers

A mobile tuning guy will check this is the problem and squirt his stuff at a location of your choice for £30 or so. He'll also check a few other bits.

Prepare for a massive bill this is a well known fault on 4 to 6 year old Micras-- it may well need a new or reconditioned throttlebody. The genuine Nissan part is circa 500 pounds but aone company in this country is reputed to be remanufacturing them for about half this.

BBA-Reman do these for about £200. There is supposed to be company in Nottingham doing them for about £70 - but I don't have a company name.

Thankyou for that. Their web site looks interesting, so I will get a quote.

Has anyone else tried parts from BBA - any ideas on quality/service etc.?

Has anyone replaced one of these? - from the Haynes manual it looks no more difficult than replacing a Carb, but without the hassle of tuning it afterwards - does that about sum it up?

Many thanks

BBA-Reman are very widely used by the motor trade, you shouldn't have any problems with them. The throttle body is easy to change, no special skill required, just be gentle with the connectors and take your time.
