Mondeo Verona 1999 - Alarm Problem

Hi,

Wondered if anyone could advise me.

Since I bought my Mondeo I have only set the alarm with the door key, as the fob does not work ( presume battery gone).

However the alarm keeps sounding off for not apparent reason now and then.

I have taken to locking the door without setting the alarm (ie no flash of the indicators) with one turn of the key, but it still periodically goes off !!!. Very annoying for me and the neighbours.

I have detached the alarm horn in the boot, so now only the flashers go off !!!!

Does anyone know why it's doing this ?

Is is a common fault with Mondeos ?

Can anyone tell me how you can disable the alarm completely ?

Any help would be grately received !!!!!

a neighbouring KA kept sounding off at odd times, they took it back and the dealer said that the interior sensor was set to max sensitivity, perhaps you have the same?

Hi I had the same problem and I found that one of the back windows was undone very slightly which when windy changed the air pressure inside the Mondeo, so causing the alarm to sound. Regards Pete

Could be one of the sensors playing up.

You can get into the sensor check mode by opening and closing the door 8-10 times in succession. You'll hear a small "parp" from the alarm horn (around the rear o/s on my Mk1) to tell you that it's in diagnostic mode and from there on in you'll hear a similar parp when you open each access point to the car. "Access points" include each door, two for the boot and one for the bonnet access. You'll also get a parp from a key in the ignition.

If you don't get a parp at any point, it's a fair indication of a dodgy sensor. Ford do replacement sensors at reasonable prices.

Have a check of Mirez' site:

Hope you get it sorted.

If this car has internal ultra sonic sensors, I'd keep an eye out for magic trees. They can set them off if too sensitive in high wind.

Quickest way is to tap the bonnet switch up and down a few times until you hear the "parp" and the indicators flash.

Dont think the Verona has the interior sensors - its probably the bonnet switch - easy to replace.
