wheels. Do very little mileage. Occasionally to seaside (100 miles there and back) Maybe about 2500m per year. Don't know service record, just got it.

5speed manual box. Cheers. Jim.

grandad ( snipped-for-privacy@privacy.net) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

Does it *really* matter, then?

The difference between 30mpg and 35mpg over that difference isn't going to be that big... Roughly one tankful per year.

Rightio, as Adrian said, it won't make much difference in terms of running costs. But if you're getting under 20 mpg, be concerned, providing your trips are at least four miles each way and it's not the middle of winter.

If you do short stop start trips during rush hour in a city like York, you could see figures dramatically lower than the 30 mpg quoted elsewhere. When a car is stationary it's doing 0 mpg, and the effect on average fuel consumption will be huge. :-)

If you spend lots of time with the engine cold, you may also want to consider changing the oil every six months, since these driving conditions are hard on the oil.
