New Door panel sealer compound?

Hi,

I have a phase 1 Clio and an odd set of locks which require 3 different keys (only the ignition and boot are the same).

I'm going to replace the locks this week, but before I do I would like to know whether I need to get some more sealer compound for the door trim panels or if I can just reseal them using the existing sealer.

My Haynes manual just shows a picture of sticky stuff when the panel comes off, my local garage mentioned that it could be some type of membrane.

Is my best bet just to wait and see whats under there?

thanks for your help.

Most doors have a large plastic membrane covering the whole inner door skin. All it does is stop draughts and moisture affecting the door trim, card, whatever. It can usually be peeled away where needed, and stuck back using duct tape. As long as the holes in the inner door skin are sealed, and wont easily come unstuck, how it's done doesn't really matter. You can't see it once the door trim is replaced anyway. Mike.
