Octavia oil levels

Sorry for what is probably a stupid question.

When should I check the oil level of an Octavia? (One is S reg 1.6, and the other is W reg 2.0) When it is hot? cold or what? The only thing I can see in the manuals is if the oil warning light on the dash come son to check when the engine is hot, and then leave for 10 minutes for checking.

If anyone can help, I'd be grateful.

Cheers.

99 percent of all cars should be checked when the engine is warm and has stood for a few minutes only (with the engine off) This means that oil will be in all the oil galleries, oil filter, oil cooler etc, but all the splashed stuff should have fallen back down into the sump. Provided the oil level when checked is within a few millimetres ( 4 or so ) of the upper mark, then it is fine.

Take it back to the showroom and ask for a refund, explaining that you're too stupid to be let near a car.

Your comment was neither helpful, funny, interesting or of any use. Why did you bother?. The OP had a genuine car maintenance question, albeit basic. I could apply your answer to you and your computer.

Oh dear

although I agree Steve wasn't being too helpful, and the conkerbloke seems ok to me.

Talking of stupidity, why do you ask questions when you're not going to be able to read the reply?

Or were they rhetorical? (No, don't answer that)

Pete I love you. In a manly way of course.

Thanks for that mate, I was sort of under the impression that was how it was done, but I figured it's better to ask a stupid question than cause a stupid mistake.

Oil was fine, anyway.

I always check my 205D when it's cold. Is this wrong? All my previous cars have stated this and I just fell into the habit.

Oh God, I may be KILLFILED over this !!! Thank God my mother is dead. Oh f*ck, my sister just phoned, mums alive !!!!

LOLOL etc.
