Peugeot 306 brake drum bearing problem

I decieded to replace by brake shoes and wheel cylinders on my 306

1997 d-turbo. After a reasonable effort when I removed my brake drum the wheel bearing fell apart.

My question is: what is supposed ot happen when the brake drum is removed?

Is the outer race meant to come off the stub axle and leave the inner race on the stub axle?

Do the inner bearings run on the stub axle itself or are they separate?

If the inner race is separate is it possible it has somehow seized into position, if so how do I remove it!!

At the moment I cannot put it back together without leaving the rear seal in a dislocated position!.

typical peugeot problem, if it dosn't rip the shoes from the back plate it bollocks the bearing up !

the whole lot is sposed to come off together, the bearing should remain in the drum, in theory.

you can if your lucky push the whole thing back into place, ive done this on various occasions, but if not you need to get the inner race off the stub axle, we have a long armed bearing puller for this job, or you could try tapping it off with an angled pry bar.

Thanks,

I got it back together but I know the inner seal cannot be sealing! Now buying a bearing puller/separator!
