On some cars unplugging the battery fo 30 mins works other it needs software or a sequence of pissing about with buttons.

if there is a reset button by the speedo try holding it in and turning on the ignition, most vehicles inc some Peugeot will turn the light out after a few seconds

Yes, all my HDI Peugeots will reset this way. Hold down the odometer reset and turn on the ign. Then continue holding it and you will see a countdown, release when this has finished and service indicator will have reset.

And on some Peugeots you can end up with the key remotes not working and a huge bill if you don't take the proper precautions when disconnecting the battery. The correct way is via the odometer reset button.
