Hi everyone,
Slightly off topic but this seems to be the group with the most "in the know" people.
I was stopped by the police tonight. I was driving down a semi-pedestrianised road. Busses, taxis and deliveries can use it but it OFTEN gets used by the public as a shortcut. I explained to the policeman that I was moving a heavy speaker between two bars, one of which was in the pedestrianised area and the policeman told me I hadn't committed an offence since I was offcially making a delivery.
He then pointed out I had a headlight out. I told him I saw it flash as it blew as I left the house that night (white lie...it had blown about 3 days earlier, I just hadn;t got round to changing it yet). He's given me a Police Stop Form. Standard thing, 7 days to present my licence, tax and MOT at the police station. No problem at all, and if it helps tackle uninsured drivers I don't mind spending 5 minutes presenting my documents at my local police station.
The form says I'll have to get my bulb fixed before presenting my documents, and have the form stamped by the MOT station to prove it's been repaired. I asked the policeman if that was neccessary since I had a spare bulb and it would only take me five minutes to change the bulb myself (I know...I should have changed it as soon as it blew! I'm lazy!). He said there was no way round it, it HAD to be stamped by an MOT station.
If I change the bulb myself is an MOT station going to be okay stemping this form for me or am I going to have to fork out for a garage to do a job I can do myself in a few minutes?
Cheers everyone! :o)
Ben
