Hope this isn't OT. I'm negotiating to buy a 1977 car with cherished number plate. The plate is not original to the car, the current owner transferred it to the car in about 1980. Car has been in mothballs for 15 years or more.
Quite a valuable car and quite a valuable registration (3 letters + digit).
Problem is that the owner does not have a V5(C) registration document, only a V5. The owner is applying to DVLA for a V5(C).
Are DVLA likely to issue this and, if so, are they likely to restrict the transferral of the registration number?
Obviously the loss of the number or restrictions on transfer would affect the purchase price considerably.
Thanks, Nick.
