Resetting "InSP" display?

Hello,

My car is out of warranty (Astra) and I want to do the servicing myself but the main dealer used to set it to show InSP on the display every 50 weeks. Is there anything I can do to reset that? I felt I was being ripped off with servicing as all they did was an oil/filter change. I'm not interested in devices for tampering with mileage etc, maybe something that will show up faults.

Thanks.

Press the trip counter knob whilst turning on the ignition.

Despite what you think though a dealer does far more than change the oil and filter. If you do it yourself make sure you follow the service schedule printed in the service book. Ideally use a ramp as you will not be able to inspect it fully underneath otherwise.

Doing this will mean that you miss out on any free reworks or recalls that a main dealer would identify.

Use a Vauxhall oil filter and a decent semi-synthetic oil. I would keep the receipt and fill in the service book as well. It will not give you a proper service history but it will assist slightly when you part-exchange or sell it with no service history.
