Route for towbar wiring Puegoet 206 SW

I'm just installing a towbar on the above car. Is there a 'best' way to take the wiring from the bar socket to the lights? I can't see an easy way.

TIA

Does this model Pug have electronics that require a special harness to connect into the wiring? You may not be able to splice directly into the wiring loom. (required for the 307)

I had a 206 SW from 2004-08 and AFAICR the installer drilled a hole up through the floor, popped in a grommet and connected the electrics with snap over connectors and fitted a warning buzzer for the indicators.

A work colleague bought this car off me and I can sneak a look when I next get to the office if you need me to.

Those connectors do actually have their uses. If you want to make a low- current connection, and leave the loom relatively unscathed upon removal, they can be a good option.

Caveats include using 3M ones, not pound shop, matching the size to the cable, and fitting them properly.

I would not use them for taking a power feed to a caravan that might be drawing 10A or so for long periods of time, for example.

If I was wiring a tow bar that I was only going to use infrequently, for trips to the tip or similar, I would (and have) use them with no worries.

BTW, I fit into both your categories; I'm a professional electrical technician, but a DIYer where cars are concerned.

Ah, but it sounds like you're an actual professional, not a "professional"...

Hear what you say, but all the cars I've had towbars fitted to by different installers have used this method without problems during my ownership.

Agree with Chris that using them for heavy current applications is bad, but I've never had issues with the genuine Scotchlok.
