Rover 416 Tourer Wiper Problem

The self parking function on the front wipers of my '97 Rover 416 Tourer is playing up. The main wipe works OK, but if on intermittent, the motion is VERY erratic and jerky.

In the good old days, the self parking function was an integral part of the motor, but I'm told on many newer cars, this is now handled electronically by a relay.

I can't find a Haynes Manual for my car, and the wiper motor is a bit fiddly to just take off and have a look. Anyone had this problem, and how did you solve it?

Regards,

JMcG

No, the park switch is still part of the motor, or mounted on the gearbox, but it does signal the relay, rather than the motor directly, which could stick. See if you can borrow a relay to check before stripping the motor.
