Rover Heads

Are K-series heads in short supply these days? My local garage says they're having extreme difficulty getting new ones to replace heads that have been skimmed to the limits.

Considering how long ago Rover went bust, I'd say yes.

Surely the scrapyards are full of them - given how few you see on the road these days? And are there any left worth the cost of a new head?

I just thought there might have been pattern heads about given the frequency of repairs required of those engines.

I wouldn't relish hunting through scrap yards for a good K-series head/engine!

Scrapyards these days have quite fast time from being in compound to bieng shreded. Lots of rovers would have been crushed last year when scrap price was high.

A quick google says they now use metal head gasket with a shim on Land Rover K's, fit 2 shims, one top AND one bottom. Or find a thicker MHG to compensate for skim.

At least one is, the Lotus Elise, and some might also say the MG F/TF
