Second hand fuel injection system for Rover V8

If I were to come across a fuel injection system for a Rover V8, what is involved in fitting it?

What do I need in the kit so that installation is reasonably straightforward - i.e. not likely to be stymied by missing parts, gaskets, and whatnot?

Are there any useful web pages about this?

Cheers,

The early type as fitted to the Vitesse has differences to the engine too

- different cylinder heads.

With the Vitesse type you'll need the heads inlet manifold and plenum. And all the pipes and fuel pressure regulator. AFM and injector resistor packs with brackets. Wiring loom with relays and ECU. Air filter, brackets and trunking. Petrol tank and external high pressure pump with housing etc.

The genuine Rover workshop manual would be invaluable.

You'd do best to buy a complete but rusty car. Vitesse or EFI - same engine.

I know it's hard to give much of an opinion remotely, but would

present any obvious gotchas (beyond the pump and regulator mentioned) for fitting on a 3.5? An showing my complete cluelessness, would the injectors for the 3.9/4.6 be a problem?

I take it you don't mean the Haynes manual :->

True, however I've nowhere to put the unused bits!!

Many thanks!

You'll want proper 3.5 injectors- 3.9's flow more fuel.

I dunno. The problem with the early Lucas system is that there is no lambda sensor, so alter near anything on the engine and you'll not get it to run properly, as there are no adjustments. I'd guess that's why the seller has upgraded to something more modern.

If you do go for it I'd go back to standard injectors. Oh - the exhaust is different too on the Vitesse. Dunno how much difference this makes.

The early EFI system is ok when everything is correct and standard.
