Snowy roads are fun

Me likey these snowy roads up in Scotlandshire now I've got my M&S tyres on. I was perturbed, to put it mildly, that they wouldn't work in 12 inch deep mud when I tried to turn round in a field recently but they're starting to redeem themselves in snow. I've been hooning up and down the hills round here the last two days and so far nothing has fazed them. Some of the roads are probably close to 1 in 10 grade but the Focus is hauling itself up them with gay abandon through slush and packed snow. Mind you I have no idea how well normal tyres would do without putting it to the test although I suppose I could put the Toyos on the rear onto the front and see how well I manage. I'm guessing not very well.

Sadly the snow is not that deep yet and the car tyres have already worn it away to bare tarmac on each side of the single track roads near where I live so I'm resorting to driving with the left wheels on the snowy grassy verge and the right ones on the hump of snow in the middle of the road to really see how well they cope. This is actually not a bad way of doing it because if I get stuck up a hill I can go back to driving on the bare tarmac bits and still make it home. However they're coping with this abuse without complaint even up quite steep hills.

Call me a convert.
