Stopping A Renault Diesel Engine Firing Up

I'm just replacing the turbo on my diesel car and havimng almost finished fitting it.

I've found in the instructions from the turbocharger supplier that I have to get the engine turning on the starter motor for a while to build up oil pressure (Prime the oil supply to the turbo) before allowing the engine to actually fire and run.

Not being a turbodiesel expert, please bear with me on this next bit...

There are a couple of wiring connectors, one above the turbo and one on what I would guess to be a 'throttle body'. (With internal butterfly valve) If I remove these connectors, will it prevent the engine starting?

Many thanks

No. As long as it's not a common rail, you need to locate the engine stop solenoid and disconnect the wire. If it's common rail, merely pulling the plug on the crankshaft or camshaft sensor will do the job.

Year and model? I'd suggest that the engine will still start, but the ecu will log fault codes and prolly turn on the emissions or management light.

IIWY I'd just squirt some oil into the turbine bearing housing (before you assemble the supply pipe) and just start as normal - oil will be pumped to the bearing in seconds.

Probably be just as easy to put a wire to the starter solenoid wire and spin it over with the ignition switched off.

Camshaft sensor doesn't always work (specifically on Ivecos)

2003 and Mitsubishi Carisma. (Yes, Renault 1.9DiD engine)

I disconnected the stop solenoid wire and turned it over until the oil flowed, then reconnected.

Started first time and the management light is now on! Still, it works. any Mitsubishi specialists around in the Portsmouth area?

Possibly:

Reset the reminder by the info button on the dashboard. a, Ignition off, push info button several times until the service indicator comes on, b. Push the button until the spanner begins to blink c. Push once again short, the text CLEAR will show.
