Torque wrench or muscle it :)

I'm changing my wishbones on my mk4 golf and te bolt torque settings are between 30/70 nm and have mis placed the sodding torque wrench, do you reckon if I do them up really tight on the socket it should be fine ?

Also do you need to get the tracking done after changing wishbones ?

Peter smith gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:

30-70Nm isn't "really tight". A good solid nip-up, but definitely stop short of two-grunts-anna-fart.

It's always wise - but it shouldn't be necessary - tracking's most dependent on the track-rods, assuming the new wishbones are roughly the same size and shape as the old ones...

done up good and tight will be fine and yes, you must get the tracking re-done after changing any part which can effect the distance apart that the wheels are.

It's normally cheaper than the tyre wear.
