VAG gear linkages - main dealer aprt?

I had the misfortune of having a gear linkage break today on my Octavia (with Audi 1.8 engine). It is the sort of 'L' shaped plastic link from the cable to the selectors, right on top of the gearbox. Why they ever made it in plastic is beyond me.

I rang a couple of motor factors, who say it is a main dealer part - how likely will it be for me to get one in the morning from a dealer? Or do you think it'll be a 'order only' part?

Thanks Alan.

no good if it was made out of metal, otherwise they wouldnt sell any.

main dealer only & i'd thought they would have that in stock cos its plastic.

You'd sell quite a lot when it corrode & seized :-)

& if you do it 1st thing on the morning & it's coded as Vehicle off road they can normally get it by the afternoon parts run.

But it certainly won't be off the shelf.

Had worn linkage bushes on my old Favorit. Took 4 days to arrive, for a=20 =A33.60 worth of parts.

As a follow up, just got back in, Skoda said no chance, but can be here for next day, I went to VW then, who keep them in stock - quite a common part to fail apparently. Quite pleased, as I can now use the car this weekend to go away. Ta Alan.
