vauxhall asrta 1.7 td isuzu engine

There are no marks whatsoever on the crankshaft pulley, to align with the pointer mounted on the block does any one know where in relation to the dowel pin on end of the actual crankshaft ,used to locate the crankshaft pulley , thetiming mark should be .

I dont wish to take the head of fto find tdc and doubt whether i can feel for it through the injector holes

head towards the gearbox at the bottom as your looking at it, left-hand side lower should be a "splash shield" from memory 3 bolts hold it on take it off, there should be be a small "tit" sticking up from the gearbox casing which aligns with a knotch in the flywheel, there is a locking tool which bolts onto the side of the gearbox and locks into the flywheel teeth.

Some models have a pulley that lines up with the pin, some don't. autodata shows a groove in the end of the crank (which lines up with the dowel for the pulley), this aligns with the matching notch on the end of the engine (which is just to the left of a nut/bolt) The other ones are a bolt in the cam sprocket and the injection pump, if you get these in the right place it should make the crank one obvious.
