Vauxhall Corsa Brakes - Master Cylinder Question.

1993 Corsa Merit Diesel suffers from the brake pedal sinking to the floor. Google reveals this is a known problem, but this is the second time in 2 years it has happened.

2 years ago the master cylinder and the rear brake pressure regulating valve were changred. This was supposed to fix the problem, but I was unhappy. The brakes did not feel as good as they did originally. I have owned the car from new, but do not drive it regularly. Total mileage is 61000, accumulated evenly over the last 10.5 years.

Over the last 2 years the problem has slowly come back. I suspect the new, genuine Vauxhall supplied master cylinder is the culprit. However the last time I tried to get an after market replacement no-one could supply one. Always I was asked for the two letters stamped onto the cylinder. The one I wanted was never in stock, others with different letters were. Note that these other different cylinders were for the Corsa, well so I was told when I asked what they were for.

I could understand the letters meaning something to indicate which repair kit was required, if I could get one!

So does anyone know what these two letters indicate? What is so peculiar about the master cylinder that a complete replacement item has to have the same two letters. I am reluctant to pay through the nose again for the Vauxhall supplied part if they only last 2 years.
