vauxhall tigra - rubbing noise from front wheel - any ideas??

hello! i have a rubbing noise from (i think) the front offside wheel on my vaux tigra - it makes the noise when driving and free wheeling even with the engine off - nothing is touching the wheel/driveshaft - it's not the CV joint - i don't believe the brakes are binding - i'm thinking wheel bearing? (though there is no play in the wheel if i jack it up) can anyone help me on this - any help would be appreciated :0)

thanks

Have you tried the obvious and taken the roadwheel off then spun the axle? You might be able to get a better listen that way.

i have tried that - there is noise noise whatsoever - seems to be only when the car is under load

Could be the bearing although I haven't dealt with one since my Morris Marina back in the 80s.
