vw passat strange quirks or faults?

Noticed two things with the Passat over the last week or so (99 v plate 1.8 petrol) Number 1. When you are braking and coming to a stop, at a junction or roundabout or whatever, just before you drop the clutch, there is quite a judder throughout the car, as if someone has touched the brakes and then let them off again. I have noticed this from getting the car approx 7 months ago, but it's becoming more noticeable. Clutch seems fine, no slipping or anything. It just feels really crap 2 get a fairly hefty judder through the car every time I'm approaching a stop. Feels like it's something in the drivetrain. There's no noise either, just the judder. Secondly, when starting the car from cold, for the first five mins, when you depress the clutch, the revs go fairly high 2-3000 rpm, and stay there. Once it's warmed up everythings fine, when you press the clutch the revs drop to about 1000rpm as per normal. it has only just started doing this. Is there an idle speed control valve or something on the engine that may cause this? Have had a few niggling problems with this car already, and am concerned these may develop into something else. Would appreciate any coments from anyone thats maybe experienced something similar.

cheers
