VW Polo Fuses

Hi,

I have recently bought a 1993 VW Polo Coupe which came without an owners manual. I need to check the dashboard lights and number plate fuses as these lights aren't working. I have a Haynes manual which tells me what fuse no. does what but it doesn't have the fuse board layout. Is Fuse 1 the top left and fuse 9 the bottom left with the fuses running in numerical order from left to right?

Mine has a cover over the fusebox and on the inside of the cover is a picture of what each fuse does which shoudl make it pretty clear. But if you're really stuck why not simply guess - pull out the fuse and have a look at it - if it is intact put it back, then have another go...

What caught me out on my polo with the dashboard lights (which share the same fuse as the central locking I seem to remember) is that they can be turned off via a little roller switch on the dashboard in the bottom right hand corner...it is not in an obvious position.

The number plate could of course be a blown bulb.
