Workshop Tee card system

Hi

Can anyone explain the Tee card system used in auto workshops. Is it simply the job card is put in a "jobs pending" rack and then the fitter/mechanic moves it to an "in progress" rack and then to "job finished" rack?

It is just a simple way to see at a glance which department is low on work, which is full, and an easy way to show whether anything is finished, actually looking at the individual card can show what has been done by whom and if anything is on order, etc. etc. You can also put it in computer form and internet connected, which is handy especially because the customer can track the progress of his repair without even ringing up.

Okay but does it function as I described? i.e. three separate racks for pending, working and finished? What other refinements like different colour cards?

You can have as many sections as your workshop requires, the pockets on the wall are modular, the cards come in many colours, so you can make it one colour per worker or whatever suits you, the reverse of the card is red, which means it needs attention, such as parts ordered or specialised input like glass fitting. (the cards can also be supplied as multi layer so can be part of invoicing too.)
