Cat Con Bargain

Two months ago I helped my neighbor replace the cat in his 93. He purchased it from PBC for $145.00 and fit properly, working fine. Mine started rattling a few weeks ago and being a cheap SOB, started looking around and found a direct fit replacement from J.C. Whitney for $99.95 minus 10% for a coupon promotion. I figured if it was junk, I could always return it so I went ahead and ordered it. It arrived today and appears to be the exact same part that my neighbor purchased (same CE number on the unit), stainless steel with heat shield, gaskets supplied (bolts not but they weren't with the other either) and perfect fit just like his. I've got no idea about long term durability and I'm not subject to emissions testing in my county in Va. so don't know if it would pass but for $90.00, it's kind of hard to pass up if you're not looking for high flow/performance cats. If you decide to purchase one and don't happen to have a JC Whitney catalog, the part number is

55SA5664B and then a detailed description of your vehicle. If you don't have the coupon for the 10% off, the number is AJGN682 from catalog number 682J-01. No, I don't work for Whitney, just trying to save some money for the other cheap SOBs out there (you know who you are).
