flashing airbag light, how make it stop?

Hi, I bought a '92 that was crashed. The repair shop didn't replace the airbag. It deployed in the crash. So now the airbag light flashes continuously. How can I make it stop flashing? Thanks, Mike

Replace the air bag, or the light will eventually burn out! In some states, it's against the law to sell a car with mallfunctioning safety systems. Or, there is a fix for Miata's using a non airbag steering wheel. Suggest you wander over to miata.net and poke around in the garage and archive sections. Mazda thinks dearly of it's airbags, and there are shipping restrictions for an operable airbag.

I have 3 driver side miata airbags, (and one passenger side). If he is anywhere in the central Texas area I would give him one for almost free, but you are correct, they are hazardous materials.

I have seen a driver and passenger side airbag set exactly like mine get over $400.00 on Ebay. Lots of people are selling them there and shipping them simply as "car parts". Illegal and unsafe, but I have never heard of one going off in transit. I am still hoping for a local buyer on mine, it isn't worth the cost and time of getting another HAZ-MAT license for one or two shipments.

Oh yeah, wouldn't he need to replace the sensors that triggered the airbag as well?

It can be done though. They shipped Bozo's airbag steering wheel to me from Germany.

Huh? I have never heard of a car hitting something hard enough to set of the airbags & still be repairable. I guess Australian airbags are less sensitive.

If you insert a 3 ohm resistor in the circuit in place of the absent airbag, it will be silent, and not flash.
