Hi.

No, sorry. To add numbers, they must have the same units. Just like you cannot add a mile to an hour, you cannot add a sc to a rotary.

And who would want to add a turbo?

I understand this to be "Can a piston modification be"

Absolutely. Take a piston. Weld it to the rotary. You have now a convenient handhold to lift the rotary when you have to take it out of the engine bay again.

rec.autos.rotary should be able to give you more information on these topics, (I forwarded it there), but this are the big lines.

Only too glad to help. :)

I see now where you are trying to go to. If one can add a mile to an hour to get 2 mile plus hour (mph), why not add a supercharger to a rotary to get 2 supercharger plus rotary (supra).

The difficulty is that units are not independent of amount. More simply put, A B + C D is NOT equal to (A + C) (B + D) since the units (B and D) are NOT independent of the amounts (A and C).

In even more simple words, if A B and C D were 2-dimensional vectors, with A and B the components of the first vector and C and D the components of the second vector, A B + C D would be (A + C) (B + D), but they are not.

That should clarify your mistake.

And just when did someone get a rotory to fit into a miata? Last time I read about puting a rotory into a miata it was not a good fit. Besides the shear noise of a rotory. rs Cross post removed

Do rotaries really make a peculiar shearing sound? I've never noticed it.

An Ex-Brother in law built a rear engine buggy with one with a short pipe that was almost straight pipe. Ear plugs were useless! rs

I'm sure the sheer intensity of the noise was overpowering, but was it a shearing sound?
